Ormsby, AMOS & brothers, Ephiraim & Nathaniel, came from England to Colonial America. One settled in New Hampshire, one went to an unknown location; and Nathaniel settled in Norwich, Conn.

From: "Conn. in the Revolution" Additional Troops raised in Conn. 1777-1781, not in Line. Capt. Spalding's Independent Company at Wyoming, Pa. (United) June 23, 1778. Private Amos Ormsbury (Westmoreland) transferred to Durkee's Regt. Jan. 1, 77.

From: Same Reference, Conn. Line reduced to 5 Regts. 1781-1783. First Regt. Col. John Durkee (Norwich), Capt. Spaldings Co. Private Amos Ormsby paid from Jan. 1, 1781 to Dec. 31, 1781.
Amos Ormsby applied for pension in 1818 and made a supplement to that application in 1820. At this time he was living in the Town of Herkimer, Herkimer County, N.Y. In the 1820 paper he says he is living with his wife at the home of their son. He does not name either. His pension was granted at the rate of $8.00 per month.
