In the Civil War. Enlisted from Townshend, Vt. Dec. 3, 1861. Mustered in Feb. 18, 1862 at age 19. Re-enlisted Jan. 5, 1864 at age 21. Both enlistments in Co. H 8th Regt. of Vermont. Killed in action Oct. 19, 1864. (Vt. Adj. Gen. Records.) Killed at Cedar Creek, VA on 19 Oct 1864

In the 1850 census of Vt. there was an Albert Ormsby listed in the family of Washington Evans (his grandfather). His age 6 yrs. Note his mother had died in 1849.
